THE MUMMY LEGACY SET: THE MUMMY (1932)/THE MUMMY'S HAND/THE MUMMY'S TOMB/THE MUMMY'S GHOST/THEMUMMY'S CURSE. THE MUMMY (1932) Karloff in this skillfully filmed classic. Edward Van Sloan is here to fight the evil, David Manners, the hero, is confounded. Next to Karloff the performance award goes to Bramwell Fletcher who has an electrifying mental breakdown upon seeing the mummy rise from his coffin and walk. THE MUMMY'S HAND (1940) As much as THE MUMMY with Karloff is classy and the Chaney mummy movies are loads of fun, this one is my favorite. Lots of action and Tom Tyler is really scary as the Mummy. The effects crew has his eyes "glowing black" in this one and it gave me the "jeepers creepers" as a kid. The cast is wonderful -- Dick Foran, Wally Ford and all the others are very believable and likable. THE MUMMY'S TOMB (1942) Lon Chaney's first time as the mummy - Kharis. The characters from the previous film (THE MUMMY'S HAND) are back and Kharis is out for revenge. THE MUMMY'S GHOST (1944) The mummy on a New England campus this time! Lon Chaney Jr. swaggers his way on a killing spree looking for his reincarnated princess. THE MUMMY'S CURSE (1945) Lon Chaney as the Mummy in the bayou. Cajun songs, swamps and Kharis, the mummy. Virginia Christine is dynamite as a female mummy revived from the dried swamp. Seeing her rise from the dried mud is a sight to behold!
