THX-1138 1/6 Scale Motorcycle Replica With Lights LIMITED EDITION

It is widely believed that the infamous motorcycles in the movie THX1138 were Triumph Bonneville motorcycles with a custom avon fairing added.

THX1138 is a cult film and with most cult films, collectables from these movies are rare. No one, to my knowledge, has produced the cars or the motorcycles based of the vehicles in the movie, bar one-offs.

It is my honor to introduce the THX1138 Triumph motorcycle heavily inspired by the bikes in the movie. This is a 1/6 scale version made from a combination of kits. Only six were made, as it was a very expensive process.

First, we started off with the 1/6 scale NewRay Triumph Bonneville kit. That kit was dismantled and customized. The frame was altered to accommodate the fairing and light switch. The engine was also altered to make room for a 9 volt battery. 

Next, the fairing and windscreen. A mold was taken from a 1/6 scale Tamiya Honda CBR race bike kit. The cast from that mold was then altered and customized to accommodate the THX1138 side headlights. Then a mold was taken from the new THX accurate fairing to produce the fairing for our kit. Custom lights and leds were added. Watching the movie, frame by frame, we were able to get the side number off the bike and reproduce it for our kit.

The handle bars that came with the NewRay Triumph were not sufficient. Custom handlebars were made to give the bike a better profile.

Finally the paint and decals wrap this project up. As you can see, we produced a model that is unmistakably from the THX1138 movie. Enjoy.
