As I’m sure you’ve noticed, my expected delivery date for the Spindrift dome has come and gone. This is due to the ongoing supply chain woes that have made water clear resin difficult to obtain.

To counter this, we are switching the dome over from cast resin to clear vacuformed plastic. We are designing the vacuforming buck incorporating a special lip that will make cutting the part far easier than with other vacuformed pieces you may be familiar with – and the buck will remain in the dome until the cutting to help eliminate damage during shipping. We should have our first test pieces next week and will then be able to provide a new initial ship date.

Assuming the test is successful we will be reassessing the pricing based on the new materials and timing.

Replace the Spindrift’s spherical dome with an accurate, teardrop shaped one.

This set also includes a replacement base for the dome, complete with accurate honeycomb backing, suitable for
lighting*.

In addition, the two antennae are also reproduced in
exacting detail. The upper antenna includes all 5 “bulbs” instead of the kit’s 3, while the full-length front antenna
replaces the kit’s shortened piece.
