Blade Runner I've Seen Things Lithograph by John Alvin:

I’ve Seen Things is my revisitation of the Blade Runner one-sheet I created 25 years ago. It is meant to be a close cousin to the original, still with Deckard and Rachel and while they are given a fresh look, it is Roy’s sinister presence that makes it a unique take on the science fiction classic. The futuristic down shot of a dark Los Angeles keeps the mood and lighting of the original. Roy Batty was absent in the first rendition back in 1982 and I have always missed his fierce countenance that echoes one of the greatest sci-fi characters ever created for the screen. When the marketing visual material was being generated before film’s release, it was a given that Harrison Ford’s face had to be shown. All I had then to work from was a grainy, small single frame of film in order to paint his Deckard. Sean Young was well covered in publicity stills so she posed no such difficulties. No one who had a creative opinion about the onesheet knew what to do with the white haired replicant who so personifies the underpinnings of the story and the decision was made to omit him from the art. This 25th anniversary commemorative artwork is a chance for me to ask Roy back into the atmosphere of the story and to give him the power he commands on the screen. I like to think of him as a ghost who has always been there and now, he has become visible in this anniversary turn on the 1982 original. I’ve Seen Things are the words with which Roy Batty begins his speech that chillingly tells us there’s much more to this replicant than just being a newer combat model replicant. I thought it to be an appropriate title for his debut in Blade Runner art. –John Alvin
