NOTE: The cowl will fit up to a brow circumference of 25 1/2" so if your brow circumference is 22 1/2" and you want a tight fit you may need to place some slight padding in the back.

The cowl is made of heavy Vita-Flex 40 urethane and is ridget enough to stand on its own.  The ears are not solid as if they were it would make the cowl unduely heavy.  But they are stiff and will not colapse or distort.

The cowl comes in two pieces i.e. the head and neck.  the head you pull over your head and the neck wraps around yours and fastens in the back with industrial strength velcro.

As to the mouth size, the issue would be your face going forward more to fill the opening.  22 1/2" is a small circumference, average circumference for an adult male is between 24" and 25".  But again if you place a small amount of padding at the upper back of the cowl it should push your face forward into the mouth for a snugger fit.
