Convair Nexus & Convair Helios 1/700 Scale Model Kit Super-Booster Collection #3:

The Convair Nexus was aerospace visionary Krafft Ehricke's proposal for a massive heavy-lift booster that could hurl an entire space station -- or even the components for a moon base -- into space in a single launch.

Key to Ehricke's design was a combination chemical and nuclear-powered booster that was not only capable of generating up to 156 million pounds of thrust -- compared to just 7.5 million for the Saturn V -- but was reusable.

The Helios was another Convair design that incorporated both chemical and nuclear propulsion...although at a much smaller scale. About the size of a Saturn V, the Helios had an initial thrust of about 1.3 million pounds and would be used principally for low-orbit launches.
